I leave for Cape Town tonight on the world's most expensive flight ever. With The Wine Merchant. While I’m childishly excited about seeing my Dad again (Mom is in Nairobi at a snoozefest, conference, whatever) it dawned on me that The Wine Merchant might be slightly anxious about meeting my Dad. I picked this up when he said:
I’m slightly anxious about meeting your dad.
Crises I’m perceptive.
While I fobbed him off with ‘You’ll be fine’, this clearly didn’t put his angst at ease and he went to confide in the Housemate.
The Wine Merchant: I’m meeting Baglett’s Dad tonight.
The Housemate: Oh my God, you’ll be fiiiiiine.
WM: Should I wear a shirt?
TH: Well, he will be wearing poly shorts with a t shirt that dates back to a time when he had muscle tone. What time is he fetching you from the airport?
WM: 11pm.
TH: It’s Boozy Lunch Friday followed by Boozy Dinner Friday so make sure Baglett phones him before you board to remind him. He’ll forget.
WM: What do I call him?
TH: Well he’ll definitely call you by one of Baglett’s ex boyfriend’s names so anything goes really.
WM: Do you think we’ll get on?
TH: You’re in the wine business right?
WM: Yes.
TH: He’ll ask you to marry her.

Having a hectically boring day and have been re-reading some older posts. Saw the ones from your friend (and I use that term loosely), Martin. Had a good giggle at him. In desperate need of some entertainment during this quiet day, I went onto Martin's blog. My hopes faded a short while after I began reading when i realised that the resonating sound I kept hearing was my own snoring.
I am, however, 100% certain that you will be getting a brief congratulatory comment from him shortly. Or not.
